Consider Yarnes, Sr.

First Generation

1. Consider1 YARNES was born in Fredericksburg, Dutchess Co, NY 1773 (Nancy Yarnes, e-mail dated 26 Dec 1998). Consider died 3 February 1855 in Triangle, Broome Co, NY, at 81 years of age. His body was interred in Triangle, Broome Co, NY (Hazard's Corner Cemetery). Conflicting evidence states that Consider was born 3 May 1772 (info from Jan Gardner, 12 April 1999).

    He married Susanna ? circa 1799. Susanna was born circa 1783. Her body was interred in Triangle, Broome Co, NY (Hazard's Corner Cemetery). Susanna died 4 July 1849 at 66 years of age.

    Consider Yarnes was living in Dutchess County in 1800, but by 1820 was a resident of Lisle, Broome County, where he was also in 1830. The 1835 census shows Consider 4-3-1-2, living in Triangle, Broome County. Consider was aged 78 in 1850, when he was living with his son Edward and family in Triangle.

    According to info sent me by Jan Gardiner, an article in the "Rambling Fever" from the "Old Timer" dated 2 June 1992 at Penelope, NY, Consider Yarns, Sr. settled on the Yarns Road in the 1790's. Consider M. Yarns, Sr., moved to North Woods (now Penelope) settling on what is now Yarns Road, clearing 50 acres for a farm. At least six children were born there.

    Consider Yearns or Yarns served a s a private in the U.S. Dragoons, under Capt. S.D. Harris. He enlisted 15 Oct 1814 at Sherburne for the period of the war and was discharged 4 May 1815 at Greenbush. He was 38 years old at the time of his enlistment, and his occupation was listed as a blacksmith. Consider YARNES and Susanna ? had the following children:

6 v. Freelove YARNES was born circa 1807. His body was interred in Triangle, Broome Co, NY (Hazard's Corner Cemetery). Freelove died 7 March 1883 at 75 years of age (info from gravestone). The 1880 NY census shows Freelove was keeping house for Russell Sutherland.

Second Generation

3. Edward2 YARNES (Consider1) was born 19 October 1799. His body was interred in Triangle, Broome Co, NY (Hazard's Corner Cemetery). Edward died 29 September 1860 at 60 years of age (info from gravestone).

He married Eliza BROWN after 1838. She married Waldo GREEN before 1821. Eliza was the widow Green when she married Edward Yarnes. Edward YARNES and Eliza BROWN had the following children:

15 v. Freelove YARNES was born in Triangle, Broome Co, NY 20 July 1848 (Births, Town of Triangle, 1848).

7. Consider Morgan2 YARNES JR (Consider1) was born in Smithville, Chenango Co, NY circa 1810. His body was interred in Triangle, Broome Co, NY (Hazard's Corner Cemetery). Consider died 26 April 1863 in Penelope, Broome Co, NY, at 52 years of age (info from gravestone).

He married Hannah COOK before 1833. Hannah was born 1815 (info from gravestone). Her body was interred in Triangle, Broome Co, NY (Hazard's Corner Cemetery). Hannah died 1866 at 51 years of age (info from gravestone).

Consider M. Yarnes born in Smithfield, New York, was a farmer, aged 40 years when he was enrolled 22 Aug 1862 at Triangle, NY. He was mustered into service 3 Sept 1862 as a private, and was honorably discharged as a private 17 January 1863 on a surgeon's certificate of disability at camp, near Fairfax Station, Virginia. He had given his age as 40 years when he joined the Union forces as part of Company E of the local 137th Regiment. He contracted pneumonia at Harper's Ferry, and was sent home to Penelope on disability, where he died 26 April 1863. His widow, Hannah Cook, never received her widow's pension, possibly due to her Indian heritage as a Seneca Indian.

In 1865, Hannah Cook Yarnes was listed a widow, mother of 12 children, living in Willet, NY. When she passed away in 1866, their son George Washington Yarnes, inherited the farm.

Consider Morgan YARNES Jr and Hannah COOK had the following children:

Yarnes was a sailor when he married Mary Burlingame.

17 ii. Hannah Miranda YARNES was born in PA 17 March 1835 (info from 1850 census, Nanticoke, Broome Co, NY). Hannah died 16 March 1882 in Spirit Lake, Dickenson Co, IA, at 46 years of age (info from Jan Gardner, 12 April 1999).

18 iii. Susan Adalaide YARNES was born in PA 14 August 1837 (info from Jan Gardner, 12 April 1999). Susan died in Spirit Lake, Dickenson Co, IA (info from Jan Gardner, 12 April 1999).

20 v. Consider Albert YARNES was born in PA 22 November 1840 (info from Jan Gardner, 12 April 1999). Consider died 12 June 1921 in Spirit Lake, Dickenson Co, IA, at 80 years of age.

21 vi. Elizabeth YARNES was born in Chenengo Co, NY circa 1842 (info from 1850 census, Nanticoke, Broome Co, NY).

22 vii. Clarissa Lodema YARNES was born in Broome Co, NY 28 April 1843 (info from Jan Gardner, 12 April 1999).

23 viii. Almina Saphroma YARNES was born in Whitney Point, Broome Co, NY 18 September 1845 (info from Jan Gardner, 12 April 1999). Almina died 27 August 1910 in Spirit Lake, Dickenson Co, IA, at 64 years of age.

24 ix. Andrew Jackson YARNES was born in Nanticoke, Broome Co, NY 16 August 1847 (info from 1850 census, Nanticoke, Broome Co, NY). Andrew died 16 September 1902 in Spirit Lake, Dickenson Co, IA, at 55 years of age.

26 xi. Lorinda Lucinda YARNES was born in Whitney Point, Broome Co, NY 14 May 1851 (info from 1855 state census, Triangle, NY).

27 xii. Marion D. YARNES was born in Triangle, Broome Co, NY 14 July 1853 (info from 1855 state census, Triangle, NY). Marion died 24 December 1936 in Village of Green, NY, at 83 years of age.

11. Samuel3 YARNES (Edward2, Consider1) was born in Broome Co, NY 3 January 1838. Samuel died 9 September 1918 in Newberg, Yarnhill Co, OR, at 80 years of age.

He married Nancy M. SUTHERLAND in German, Chenango Co, NY, 11 February 1870 (info from Jan Gardner, 12 April 1999). Nancy was born 6 August 1840. She was the daughter of Russell SUTHERLAND and Susan YARNES. Nancy died 25 October 1911 in Newberg, Yarnhill Co, OR, at 71 years of age.

Samuel YARNES and Nancy M SUTHERLAND had the following children:

36 ii. Alice Luella YARNES was born in Forestville, Fillmore Co, MN 26 March 1877.

34. Nancy M3 SUTHERLAND (Susan2YARNES, Consider1) was born 6 August 1840.

She married Samuel YARNES in German, Chenango Co, NY, 11 February 1870 (info from Jan Gardner, 12 April 1999). Samuel was born in Broome Co, NY 3 January 1838. He was the son of Edward YARNES and Eliza BROWN. Samuel died 9 September 1918 in Newberg, Yarnhill Co, OR, at 80 years of age.

Nancy died 25 October 1911 in Newberg, Yarnhill Co, OR, at 71 years of age.

35 i. Ida May4YARNES was born in Forestville, Fillmore Co, MN 10 August 1874.
